The Kibworth School receives Pupil Premium funding from the Government in respect of disadvantaged pupils. The level of funding the school receives from the government is based on the number of pupils who claim Free School Meals, (pupils who have been registered for free school meals (FSM) or those who claimed FSM in the last 6 years). Additional Funding is also provided for ‘looked after’ children (looked after continuously by the local authority for more than six months), the number of pupils who have been adopted and the number of pupils from service families.  The funding is targeted to ensure that every pupil has the best possible chance of achieving their full potential at school whilst experiencing exciting enrichment opportunities beyond the curriculum.  Funding is based on a financial year which runs from April to March.

Schools are held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low-income families. From September 2012, schools are required to publish online information about how they have used the Premium. This is to ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.

At The Kibworth School, the Pupil Premium is used to ensure that all pupils reach their potential, and that they achieve in line with other pupils, especially for English subjects and Mathematics, regardless of their social situation. It is also used to ensure that pupils make at least expected progress, and increasing numbers of pupils make above expected progress.

It is for the School to determine how Pupil Premium funding will be spent as we are best placed to make an assessment of each pupil’s individual needs and what they will need to enable them to succeed.

Pupil Premium: Overall, there is a slight variance between the attainments of PP students, when measured against non-PP (4.29 vs 4.9). However, this is within the same GCSE grade band – grade 4 – and only appears in fine level analysis.

  • We ensure that teaching and learning opportunities meet the needs of all of the pupils
  • We ensure that social emotional aspects of learning are supported
  • Attainment and progress in line with the Education and endowment Foundation form key foundations of our work
  • We ensure that appropriate provision is made for pupils who belong to vulnerable groups, this includes ensuring that the needs of socially disadvantaged pupils are adequately assessed and addressed
  • In making provision for socially disadvantaged pupils, we recognise that not all pupils who receive free school meals will be socially disadvantaged or academically underperforming
  • We also recognise that not all pupils who are socially disadvantaged are registered or qualify for free school meals. We reserve the right to extend the benefit of the Pupil Premium funding to support any pupil or groups of pupils the school has legitimately identified as being socially disadvantaged. However, priority always goes to children in receipt of FSM. This is monitored through our safeguarding, Vulnerability Index and monitoring and evaluation systems.  The Senior Assistant Headteacher ( Mr Martin Russell ), Pastoral and SEND teams meet to track intervention and impact of identified vulnerable pupils at least every half term, they may make recommendations in accordance with their findings, which may alter the previously allocated funding
  • Pupil Premium funding will be allocated following a needs analysis which will identify priority classes, groups or individuals. This will be through whole school monitoring of data and assessments, PSP, KIPP, and in discussion with class teachers.  Pupils who are deemed to be at risk of underachieving will be flagged up and interventions put in place as soon as possible.  Limited funding and resources means that not all pupil’s receiving free school meals will be in receipt of pupil premium interventions at one time, but will over the course of the year be targeted.
  • Parents and families are invited to work in partnership with the school, regarding the needs of their child, however the school reserves the right to allocate the funding accordingly
  • We actively promote additional support and activities beyond the classroom in line with our Kibworth Standards and Values within the school

Monitoring of impact of provision.

 Governors, the Headteacher and members of the Leadership team, SEND and Pastoral team monitor provision and review impact termly to adapt interventions to suit our needs based on knowledge of the progress made by our pupil premium groups. This is reported to the Governors through the named PP/SEND Governor and the Progress group/Standards and Leadership Governor meetings termly. The Deputy Headteacher will also monitor this weekly through ‘CMT meetings’ with Progress leaders and HODs, as well as key subject staff.
